Today, we hope you’ll allow us to share five reasons as to why your $5 contribution to GIFFORDS PAC is so important.
- The United States has higher rates of gun violence than any other developed country in the world. We have had over 400 mass shootings in our country this year—and it’s only July. This is not normal, and we cannot accept this as our status quo.
- We currently have a Republican majority in the House and a narrowly divided Senate. That means we are going to have to fight harder than ever before for commonsense gun safety legislation, like universal background checks, to get passed at the federal level. With the monumental progress we have made with the passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act last year, we must work together to let our elected officials know that we’re not backing down in the fight to keep our communities safe.
- We are already preparing to maintain our gun safety majority in the Senate in 2024. We just made our first Senate endorsement of the election cycle, and we’ll have many more to come. The work to win at the ballot box next November starts now, and we need your support to elect gun safety champions at the state, local, and federal levels.
- Your support sends a message to the gun lobby that our movement is stronger than ever. Even though NRA membership has recently declined, the organization’s influence remains strong on far too many extreme politicians. That’s why it’s important we raise the funds we need to stand up to the gun lobby’s large sums of money.
- In less than a week, we’ll be closing the books on our July fundraising drive. Right now, we’re still pacing behind on our goals. Your donation of $5—or any amount you can afford—makes a huge difference in helping us get to where we need to be.
