Hey Friend— My name is Dhananjai — I’m an organizer, sci-fi nerd, and President of the NDP. That last title sounds fancier than it is. In reality, my job is to keep doing what organizers have always done — building our movement from the ground up. One of the ways we’re doing that in these pandemic times is with a remote volunteer team so that anyone — no matter where they live — can make a meaningful impact. We call this community Team Jagmeet, and it’s doing really big things. I’ve worked on a lot of campaigns (bordering on too many to count), so I have a lot of happy memories from over the years, but here’s what stands out for me: One Election Day on a local campaign, we had almost 800 volunteers show up to help. They were predominantly young and racialized people — and they found a home with our campaign because we created space for them to connect, participate, and contribute. We’re building this online community led by incredible organizers and we’re taking that campaign-office feeling digital.
